How Can You Verify Wire Ductility and Surface Defects to ASTM A938 and ISO 7800? Introducing the KASON TT-10 Metal Wire Torsion Testing Machine

Main features:

Wire rarely fails in a straight line. Drawing defects, surface seams, laps and an inhomogeneous microstructure reveal themselves only when a specimen is twisted — which is why Torsion Testing remains the most direct check on ductility and workmanship for drawn wire.

The machine to make that check repeatable on the production floor as well as in the laboratory. The machine twists wire of 3–10 mm in standard jaws — singly or in reverse — exposing surface and internal defects that tensile Testing can miss, and automatically stops the moment the specimen breaks.

The machine pairs a high-performance motor with a precision geared reducer and a high-stability inverter drive, delivering 15–120 r/min stepless speed control with speed error under ±5%. Rotation direction and turn count are fully programmable, with a minimum reading of 0.1 turn and a counter capacity of 999,999,999 turns. Axial tension is applied by dead weights through a 10:1 L-shaped lever, while a linear-bearing moving head keeps the axis straight with minimal friction. Clamping blocks are hardened above 55 HRC, and the Hall-effect sensor counter holds its sensitivity and interference rejection. All Test states are shown directly on the touch screen, overcurrent and overvoltage protection are built in, and operating noise stays below 50 dB(A).

Typical users include prestressed steel wire plants, steel rope and cable manufacturers, copper and copper-alloy wire producers for electrified railways and contact wire, high-speed steel wire mills, highway and construction materials laboratories, and university mechanics departments. Testing follows ASTM A938, ISO 7800 for simple torsion and ISO 9649 for reverse torsion.
